PROJECT OVERVIEW

A commercial office commission for the Highway Department in Thanjavur, delivered on a tight three-month programme between August and October 2024. The scope covered the construction and complete interior fit-out of the office block: a large conference hall, a meeting room with projection, executive cabins, a lounge, long service corridors, and an internal courtyard.

The finished spaces use polished marble and granite flooring, panelled timber doors and wall cladding, false ceilings with recessed lighting, and fixed upholstered seating suited to daily departmental use.

DESIGN APPROACH

With a fixed government handover date, the programme was sequenced so that wet trades (flooring, plastering, ceilings) finished early and joinery, furniture and electrical fit-out could proceed floor by floor without waiting.

The internal courtyard was landscaped with artificial turf and planters to bring daylight into the corridors, and the exterior was completed with a paved entrance walkway and facade lighting for the inauguration.
